Property Ladder - NI only region to see mortgage rise

Northern Ireland was the only region of the UK where mortgage sales did not take a dip during June. Latest figures show that overall in the UK there was a drop of £200 million in June, down 1.2% on the previous month, according to Equifax Touchstone analysis. While every region saw a reduction, in Northern Ireland there was a 10.3% growth.

Northern Ireland residential property prices are on the rise, according to the latest House Price Index report from Land & Property Services, assisted by NI Statistics & Research Agency for Quarter 2 2017. Measuring the change in the price of residential property sold in NI, the index uses stamp duty information recorded by HMRC to conclude its findings.

New figures have revealed a 3.7% decline in residential house prices in Northern Ireland over the last twelve months, dropping to £148,499 in the second quarter of the year. These figures contrast with the 11.6% increase in house prices south of the border.
